Austin Trout (born September 18, 1985 in El Paso, Texas) is the undefeated professional boxer in the Light Middleweight division and is the number one ranked boxer by the WBA at Light Middleweight.On Feb. 5, the 25-year-old won the World Boxing Association junior middleweight bout with a thunderous, unanimous decision against Mexico's Rigoberto Alvarez in his foe's hometown of Guadalajara, Mexico.For the undefeated Trout(22-0), who had a standout amateur career, getting to that title fight wasn't easy, despite being ranked the No. 1 contender for the WBA belt. He endured a 15-month layoff before his fight with Alvarez, which had been postponed twice with the site moved several times."There were times when I wondered if it was going to happen," Trout said. "But I kept the faith and kept trying to stay mentally ready for when it did happen. My patience was tested, but it was worth it."The southpaw dominated Alvarez, peppering him with his right jab and simply outworking his opponent with better hand speed and good defensive skills."Going on the road to an opponent's hometown is never easy," he said. "I thought I'd have to battle the crowd, the referee and Alvarez. But I was able to settle down and I got stronger every round.
